Hello Our 9s Magazine Family,

March 2008 Well another month has passed and we are on to a new one.
First let me send our condolences to the family of singer/songwriter, Sean Levert, son of OJays front man and our friend Eddie Levert.  This is sad and unfortunate news and we’d like to send our thoughts and prayers to the entire Levert family during this time of bereavement.  May God bless and strengthen you all.
This issue of the 9s is chalked full of inspiration and information, from Spring cleaning on the inside to Spending your Bush Bonus, we touched on all of the issues facing us the spring.  Wondering about this “Superdelegate” business?  Have no idea what ideating is?  We’ll tell you in this month’s issue as well.
We also give you bright and refreshing options for your children’s spring wardrobe, brightening up you home and destination weddings.   As always, we feature a celebrity friend of The 9s and this month, Chico re-introduces us to film and video director, Bille Woodruff.
Poetry Corner and The 9s Must Reads are back, along with one of my favorite segments, Hometown Hero, where we spotlight Chicago’s own, Reverend Clay Evans.
There is so much more in this issue, I just can’t include it all in this letter.  But I will say that my favorite article this month is one entitled “An Old Fate with a New Face.”  It takes us into the recent Hepatitis-C Epidemic.  You’ll be amazed and the findings!
This issue is steeped in content that we are sure will provoke thought and get to the hearts of all who reads it.  We hope you enjoy it!  Tell me what you think.  As usual, thanks so much for your continued support and for growing with us as we continue to grow and morph.  We love hearing your comments and/or suggestions, so feel free to send them to us at editors@the9smagazine.com.

Until next time,

Hello Our 9s Magazine Family,                                                                                                                    February 2008

Well here we are in a new month with a new issue of The 9s Magazine!

In this issue you will see hints of our new look and website.  The February 2008 issue is steeped in history…Black history that is, and it touches on everything from the Founders of Black History Month to the beauty in thunder storms in an article we call The Eye for the Storm about photographer Roger Edward.  “What Does it Mean to Be Black in America Today?” and “Home Sweet Home—Avoiding Foreclosure” are not only informative articles in content, they are empowering and absolute MUST READS!  Chico helps us lighten the tone and stay informed with his article on Understanding Your Teen.  You’ll not only be enlightened by the article, you’ll look a lot cooler to your kids as a result of it!

Staying consistent with our inside look at 2008 fashion trends, we throw the men a curve ball of color in “Crayola Couture –Men’s Fashion Spring 2008,” and for the ladies, we sum up the red carpet trends, both good and bad.   And it wouldn’t be The 9s if we didn’t take you inside the heart and mind and in this case, thought process of one of our favorite celebrity friends – Funny-man, Damon Williams, keeps us in stitches as we kick it with him for a while.

Poetry Corner is back this month, with poems from some our stand out African American wordsmiths.  We give you a few quick suggestions to escape these brutally cold temps for some of us and the monotony of the same for others.  Ever wonder how “Soul food got all that Soul?  Well, we take you into the mouthwatering history of Soul food and then inspire you to walk it off at some of the countries most fascinating museums and dedications to black history in an article we call Remembering History.

There is so much more in this issue, I just can’t include it all in this letter.  But I will say that my favorite article this month by far is a little article that we did on the very big personality and contribution of Ms. Maxine Powell, the muse behind Motown.

This issue is steeped in content that we are sure will provoke thought and get to the hearts of all who reads if.  We hope you enjoy it!  Tell me what you think.  As usual, thanks so much for your continued support and for growing with us as we continue to grow and morph.  We love hearing your comments and/or suggestions, so feel free to send them to us at editors@the9smagazine.com
Until next time,

Hello Our 9s Magazine Family,                                                                                        January 2008

Happy New Year!   Well, another year has passed and we have ushered in a new one and with it our first issue of 2008.

This issue is multi-layered and touches on everything from stars to the Presidential Primary.  “Not Your Dad’s Narcotic” and “What the Heck is Bells Palsy?” are not only informative, they are empowering and absolute MUST READS!  As usual, Chico’s contribution is thought provoking and nothing short of wondrous, as evidenced in his article on the man, the mystery, Edward G. Cayce and his sobering look at the threat of nuclear war in “The Irrefutable Truth About Armageddon.”

We lighten things up with our inside look at 2008 trends in fashion, make-up and cosmetic surgery.  And it wouldn’t be The 9s if we didn’t take you inside the heart and mind and even closet of one of our favorite celebrity friends – DJ Spinderella (1/3 of Salt-n-Pepa) reminds us why she is a Hip-hop legend.

Poetry Corner and The 9s Must Reads are back this month, along with another mouthwatering recipe in Mamie’s Kitchen.

There is so much more in this issue, I just can’t include it all in this letter.  But I will say that my favorite article this month by far is “Remembering a King” as we are reminded of the reason for our day off or “on” this Monday, January 21st – Dr. Martin Luther King Jr’s unyielding fight for the civil rights for African Americans and the freedom and dignity for all people.

Hello Our 9s Magazine Family,                                                                                Holiday 2007

Well, another month has come and gone and thus another issue of The 9s Magazine.   This month we decided to do a special Holiday issue to give you enough to tide you over until our first issue of the new year, which will be nothing short of amazing....we’ve got a lot up our sleeves.  You’ll see!

In this issue we focused on all things holiday, with a few extras for good fodder.

The Right String – Wrong Yo-yo, Tumultuous Times of TI and Recession for the Holidays articles were informative and eye opening for the writers and hopefully you the readers.  Chico did an amazing job on The Right String – Wrong Yo-yo, it’s a must read for all single women and men everywhere.

Since the Holiday season is both my and Chico’s favorite time of year, we had a lot of fun writing about the cozy nuances that make this season so warm and fuzzy.  From Holiday home decorating to the Holidays on the big screen, we tried to give you a little something to experience on every level to get the most out of the holiday.

My favorite article this month, hands down is What Are You Thankful for?,  where we had the opportunity to hear from some of our favorite readers as they shared with us what they were thankful for this Holiday season.  Thanks so much guys!  We have the most incredible readers out there.  We had a great time reading your blurbs.  They were heart warming and humorous!  On the same note, a few of us got together and put into writing our Holiday prayers in hopes that it will inspire all of you to sit down with your families and do the same.

We brought back Poetry Corner and Mamie’s Kitchen this month and Aunt Mamie is showing out with her recipes this month.  Do yourself and your family a favor and try at least one of her scrumptious recipes.  They are sure to be a holiday tradition in your home every year there after!  I had the awesome opportunity to talk about my friend this month in the celebrity interview...Kim Coles and after reading the article, you’ll love her too.

This Holiday issue is steeped in content that we are sure will get to the heart of everyone who reads it and act as a reminder of the real reason for the season.  Hallelujah a King is Born!   We hope you enjoy it!  Tell me what you think.  As usual, thanks so much for your continued support and for growing with us as we continue to grow and morph.  I love hearing your comments and/or suggestions, so feel free to send them to us at editors@the9smagazine.com or send a letter to The 9s Magazine, P.O. Box 2495, Calumet City, IL  60409.
Until next time, Happy Holidays!
